Longline rescue of alpinists - by Air Zermatt

We join the mountain rescue services of Air Zermatt in the Swiss Alps during a rescue at the Obergabelhorn, next to the Matterhorn. Alpinists are blocked up the mountain and together with rescuer Kurt Lauber Air Zermatt rescues them with a longline under the Lama helicopter. https://www.air-zermatt.ch https://www.alpinerescuecenter.ch The Alpine Rescue Center offers courses on a high level that prepares rescuers for the challenging operations under extreme conditions. Practising Emergency Medical Service in the mountains is extremely challenging. High altitude, extreme temperatures, strong winds, unpredictable weather, weight issues, limited resources and no place for mistakes. After successfully completing the courses, a rescuer or paramedic might achieve the International Diploma of Mountain Emergency Medicine for Emergency Physicians or Paramedics, certified by ICAR, UIAA and ISMM.
