A sunny day has welcomed the super final of the Grandvalira Total Fight at the El Tarter snowpark (Andorra) and the presence of the best Slopestyle riders in the world.
In the qualifying session on Friday, the American Eric Willett was getting the best score ahead of Canadian Max Parrot and Belgium Seppe Smits. Of the 40 riders, 12 of them passed to the super final.
American Eric Willett, Brandon Davis and Nikolas Baden, Finnish Roope Tonteri and Kalle Jaervilehto, the English Rowan Coultas and Billy Morgan, Canadian Max Parrot, the Belgian Seppe Smits, New Zealand Carlos Garcia, Swiss Moritz Thoenen and Frenchman Boris Mouton have 3 attempts to get the highest score by the judges of the World Snowboard Tour and win in the twelfth edition of the Grandvalira Total Fight.
Max Parrot went for the victory at the first attempt and got a spectacular round consists of switch frontboard ? switch tail 270 ? C270/450 ? cab 12 indy double cork ? back triple cork mute ? back rodeo 540 melon. Spectators maddened and the Canadian made history as the first rider getting a triple cork on the Iberian Peninsula (Andorra, Spain, Portugal).
The winner of the 2015 edition, Seppe Smits trying the best to win but finally took the second place after doing a bs 270 ? fs 180/sw bs 360 ? sw boardslide 270 ? cab 1260 indy ? bs double cork 1080 nose ? backflip nosegrab fs 180.
Moritz Thoenen took the third place, achieving his best score on the second attempt, when performing a 50/50 transfer lipslide 270 ? fs 180/sw bs 360 ? cab 180 /bs 360 ? bs double cork 1080 mute ? fs 1080 mute ? 50/50 bs rodeo 540 melon.
Max Parrot said after win: "It is the first time I compete here in Andorra, have been two amazing days and in the end it has turned out a great first round. The slope was perfect and excellent organization, I feel very happy to have participated in this competition, with a very good level of riders. I try the best on the first round and I am very satisfied."
For the first time, the Grandvalira Total Fight is within the Elite category of World Snowboard Tour, sharing calendar with the X-Games or the World Championship and prize money $ 50,000.
The Slopestyle circuit in Grandvalira debuted new modules for the occasion with a layout of six hits: set rails to Transfer, up rail stairs Gap, combo Wallride flat Rail Gap, kicker 20 meters and kicker 18 meters, knucle Jump with double Canon Box.
Enric Bonvehí, responsible El Tarter snowpark, commented after the event: "This twelfth edition of the Grandvalira Total Fight has been one of the best ever. After the awards ceremony in Abarset, après-ski place in Andorra, the Total Fight Party was held with the performance of the music band Nasty Bass.
