kanken is an iconic backpack developed by fjallraven in 1978 to spare the backs of school children in sweden. back problems had begun to appear especially in younger age groups due to the increase use of shoulder bags. kinked was kept simple and stylish and was soon seen in most school and pre-schools around the country. almost every child growing up in the 80s had a kanken backpack, either new or handed down from their parents.
