Things kicked off on the first night of competition with an aerials event that saw Qi Guangpu (CHN) successfully defend his Voss 2013 World Championship title in the men's competition, while in the ladies' event Laura Peel (AUS) was able to stop a run of Chinese dominance dating back to Ruka 2005, becoming the fourth Australian in history lady to win aerials gold.
