The French like to describe the area of Les Trois Vallées as the world's largest area, with more than 290 downhill runs for a total of 600 km. Cross-country skiers are catered for with 130 kilometers of tracks. It lies mainly on the three valleys of Val Thorens - Les Menuires, Meribel Valley and the Valley of Courchevel. About ten years ago additional lifts have been successfully added in the Valley of Orelle. They allow access from Piedmont (italy) with the French Frejus tunnel.
You can ski, from 3200m, the Cime de Caron, above Val Thorens, at 1300 m Courchevel Le Praz.
This is one of the most popular resorts in the road and every year attracts over 300,000 holidaymakers of which 70% are foreign, especially Dutch, English and Scandinavians.
