Dainese brings an air bag in the circus

Dainese and agreement of the company from Vicenza with the FIS, the air bag is about to land in the circus. Opening in 50 milliseconds of the impact and consequences of reduced up to 85%: these are the cornerstones of the project that the International Federsci and Dainese are continuing, with the aim to arrive in time for the Winter Olympics in Sochi 2014. p>
The purpose of the collaboration is to explore the potential applications of air bag technology of alpine skiing for athletes, as is already used by the greatest champions of the World MotoGP, developed after 10 years of studies and experimentation. The project is in full-time dedicated to data collection, currently operating with 16 athletes to the World Cup by 12 inertial platforms (set of sensors fully integrated into the back protection). p> Norway's Aksel Lund Svindal
and former Blue Kristian Ghedina are exceptional testimonial of the project, explained not by chance in Kitzbuehel, where 'men-jet' formidable challenge on Streif. Ghedina, in particular, and 'the first skier to have adopted the back protector in the World Cup, while Svindal Dainese has long supported research and development. P>
D-AIR SKI consists of 4 components: p>
algorithm activation
'intelligence system, the mathematical function that analyzes and combines data from sensors and decides when to activate the system. The efficacy and safety of an air bag depend to a large extent on the quality of the algorithm which must be able to distinguish between the conditions of incipient fall and normal use, even sports. P>
Hardware:
3 gyros, 3 accelerometers and a GPS algorithm continuously send data collected on the dynamics of the athlete. p>
Sacchi
are the result of more than 10 years of research and experiments made by Dainese for application in the world of motorcycles. The particular internal structure 3D (covered by multiple patents), allows the inflation at high pressure and to obtain high protective capacity even with reduced thickness. More protection and better ergonomics. The ability of air bags in the D-Ski is currently about 14 liters. P>
gas generators:
D-air gas generators Ski employs technology "cold". Since the generators on the body is essential to avoid sunburn that may be caused by generating "hot". Furthermore the performance of the generators "cold" are less affected by low operating temperatures. The experience of Dainese together with valuable suggestions athletes like Svindal indicated the placement on the sides as the most appropriate at this stage of the project. P>
Guenther Hujara, FIS Chief Race Director,'' in the last 3 years we have seen many improvements in the protection of the skiers. Our latest project, the development of the airbag ski, and 'the most' important and relies on the extensive experience that Dainese motorcycle industry''. P>
