Nadia Fanchini: "Compete in giant because less dangerous"
by Michela Caré

bad accident two years ago in St Moritz when Nadia Fanchini fell during the supergiant broke both knees, thus abandoning the dream of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. It was January 31, 2010, and the images of her cries and her tears are still etched in our minds.
Today Nadia is well again, is ready to return to the World Cup with a smile and deal with the season at the top as it always has in the past when the runner was most loved by Italians. p>
lathes in the World Cup in Kranjska Gora after say two years of absence from the circus, how do you feel?
I feel very well, I have prepared as best as possible, physically I'm fine, the pain in my knees, but there are the monitoring well. I'm ready to start the season. P>
How did your training?
They went pretty well, I've been training since early September. I worked step by step: I started the first free field, then exercises, then with the stakes and slowly I started to do something more. Lately I have trained with the team of gigantism, so I'm very happy. P>
What are your memories of the day of the accident?
rather not remember. It happened, but I have to look forward and not think of anything negative, but positive ones. P>
How did you feel when you looked in these two years of your teammates compete while you were home?
It was wonderful to be home to watch, because you know you can be there too, and go fast. For me it was hard to watch the races on television, but I tried to prepare the best knowing that it was still hard. P>
Are you afraid to return to compete in the speed disciplines or have maintained security?
Now I can not say what I feel. At the time I skied a quiet, try to deal with things better, I still find myself in this situation but they are very determined and decisive. P>
Kranjska Gora we'll see you compete in a sport that is not strictly your own: the giant. Why this decision?
I decided to compete in giant slalom because I believe that it is less dangerous and also because it is my discipline. In the past, when I was younger, I was in the first group in this discipline reaping good results. Then I had injuries and I could not compete in giant, but I think it is one of my specialties. Point on the back and versatility in all disciplines. P>
What are your goals for this season?
do not expect anything from me, I try not to worry. I am two years that are out and certainly will not be easy, but I face all the best.
